Two months!

Dear Hannah,

Right now I am laying in bed with you sleeping in your bassinet right next to me {I probably should be sleeping too} I can't help to think about how blessed I am to have you in my life and how thankful I am to be your mother. I'm going to be honest it still feels a little weird and very surreal, in a good way of course. Time has flown! I feel like it was just yesterday I was staring with an unbelieving smile at that positive pregnancy test. My pregnancy seemed to drag on and now here you are just a few days short of TWO months old! Time is going too fast now that you are here! So fast that I feel like I can't take it all in!

Hannah, you are getting so big! You can hold your head up pretty good; you've really been able to do that since day one, but your getting so much better at it everyday. You also rolled over from front to back a few weeks ago {7 weeks old!} You are our strong little girl!I've tried to get it on video for proof, but you always roll over right when I put the camera down! Little stinker!

You are so curious about everything around you. You love it when we hold you in a sitting position or better yet up on your feet so that you can look around. Oh, you love to look around. Whenever you find anything of great interest, you will focus in and stare for quite sometime. You still especially love to stare at our bedroom curtains in the mornings with light coming through. You also have been focusing on us a lot more too! You will just stare at us when we talk to you AND you always reward us with that beautiful smile of yours! Not only to we get rewarded with your smile, but you have definitely been chiming in with your own little stories with your little gurgles and coos. I love it! I love just sitting there having our mommy & daughter story time.

Nights have been so nice lately! You used to wake up every two hours to eat, now you will sleep anywhere from 3 to 5 hours! I'm definitely loving that! It is for sure a step up from the 2 hour stretches! Right now your bed time is anywhere from 10-12 and you usually wake up 4 or 5 hours, then you will sleep for 3 hours. Keep it up sweet cheeks :) {or better yet, lets make it only one time during the night :)}

Hannah baby, I can't imagine life without you! You are my angel! I feel so very lucky to have such a sweet baby girl! I can't wait for all the adventures we have ahead of us!

Love always,

Mommy

One Month Old

Dear Hannah,

One month ago today we welcomed you to the world! One month ago today we fell in love! The moment you were place in my arms was the most amazing moment ever! I can't believe that was a month ago! How are you already ONE month?! Time has flown! You are already getting so big. You already have to many funny little quirks AND much to my delight you are already a momma's girl! {lets keep it that way ;)}

One of my favorite little quirks that you have is when you are done nursing you bury your face into the crook of my arm and fall asleep. So funny! You also are still trying to figure out how to nurse, you do okay for the most part but sometimes you get a little confused and look for your "food" on my arm even though its right in front of you. You practically bend backwards to my arm. Silly girl.

My most favorite thing is your smiles! You always smile in your sleep, or you will be looking the the wall and smile. BUT today you smiled at me! I love it!

I love being your mommy and I can't wait for the many more months and milestones to come!

38 Weeks!!

only 2 WEEKS and counting!! (unless you are the select few that think I am going to go over my due date).. I feel HUGE and so ready to have this baby! I am getting very anxious to see my baby girl and to hold her, I hope she decides to come soon!

 Some things about baby girl:
  • She has calmed down a lot, and doesn't move quite as much as she used it (although it may be the lack of room she has in there)
  • She gets hiccups a lot! At least everyday!
  • She apparently likes to keep her hands near her head, because quite frequently I get a tickle on my bladder or nice little jabs to my pelvic bone.
  • She still likes to stretch her feet close to my ribs, luckily I haven't gotten too many kicks, just some discomfort.
All about the pregnancy:
  • I though I hit the uncomfortable stage months ago, but now I really am in the uncomfortable stage! Everything hurts! My back, ribs, legs, hands, etc...
  • the heart burn SUCKS! I wake up every night with heartburn! I have gone through a whole bottle of tums with this pregnancy, and I am starting on my second one... yuck!
  • Oh the insomnia! I am so tired from not getting ANY sleep! I guess I better just get used to it. and Hey if you ever need to talk at 3 AM, hit me up!
  • I am so ready to be done, although I know I will miss some things about being pregnant... for one, I have an excuse to look "fat" I'm carrying a little human inside of me! which brings us to number two, I am carrying a HUMAN inside of me! It is so weird to think of and so amazing at the same time! Three: i love feeling baby girl  move around in there! I know it will be amazing to actually have her here, but I still will miss feeling her kicking and moving all day and night long!
Anyways, let the countdown begin! I hope she comes sooner than Later!!!!

28 weeks!

Today is my 28 weeks mark! These past few weeks have been going by so fast!! It also probably helps that I have been keeping myself busy, because even though it is going by fast I am starting to feel so impatient to be able to hold my little one!

Right now we are slowly getting ready for baby. I kind of feel like we are not quite ready and don't even have close to what we need! Hopefully we get some good stuff at my baby showers to help me feel less stressed. Although I can tell you this much, baby girl has a lot of clothes to dress her for quite awhile :) I am having way too much fun with all this baby clothes shopping!

Well at 28 weeks Baby girl has become quite active! Even more active than she was before. She pulls some crazy stunts in there, which I absolutely love feeling, besides a few small exceptions, like when she decides to kick dangerously close to my ribs -OR- when she decides to be awake and crazy active at 3 AM. But other than that I am in love with all those crazy gymnastic stunts she trying out in my belly.

According to "what to expect" My baby is:
  •  17 inches tall and close to 3 pounds
  • Her wrinkled skin is smoothing out as fat deposits underneath her skin
  • Her "living quarters" are getting pretty tight now, so any jabs I feel are going to be mostly knees and elbows.
  • She is getting stronger, which also means so will her kicks
  • She will respond to different stimuli; sound, movements and light.
As for me:
  • I feel like I am starting to get at the uncomfortable stage, well I feel like I have been there for awhile but its getting worse.
  • My ribs HURT, even if baby girl is no where close to them, they just ache.
  • I have had heart burn galore. I have actually had it for the past couple weeks unfortunately.
  • I feel like I am HUGE! My mom and sister ask if I am sure I don't have two in there. Which wouldn't surprise me if I did. ;)

All up in my grill....

Alright well not really "up in my grill" more like "all up in my ribs". This child LOVES to stretch out right into my ribs. Not so fun for me, but apparently she has inherited another one of my traits...STUBBORN. She will stretch out right into my ribs, I will nicely push her away, to which responds by   listening  very well and moving far away from my ribs moving right back five seconds later. No wonder my ribs have been killing me the last few weeks. Not to mention her kicks and Jabs are getting much stronger, which don't always feel the best, BUT as much as it hurts I LOVE feeling this girl move! She is a crazy little acrobatic gymnast.

Three of my favorite things to feel are:
1) I will be sitting here quietly and so is baby girl. It almost feel as if she is sleeping, then out of the blue she starts kicking and squirming like crazy all over my belly, then stops completely. It feels so weird. But the weirdest is to watch my belly as she does it. CrAzY!

2) I love it when she stretches out and I can feel one little hard spot on my belly right where she is stretching out. sometimes if I touch it she will give me a few little jabs with that particular appendage.

3) Lately I have been able to feel the exact spot where she is chilling. My whole belly feels pretty soft expect for one hard lump on the side she is on, or in many cases the whole bottom of my belly as if she is just snuggled in. Love it!

I am in love with this girl so much and I love being able to feel her everyday! Can't wait to hold her!

Double digits!

I just want to point out that as of today we are in the DOUBLE DIGITS in the count down. 99 DAYS left!!!

Even though that seems so far away, it feels like we have come far very quickly. In the beginning of my pregnancy I felt like everything was going by sooooo sloooooow and now looking back I can't believe how fast it has actually gone by! Crazy!!

Maternity photoshoot

My mom and I went on a Maternity Photoshoot the other day. Here are some of her amazing photos!!

24 Weeks along!

I can see clearly now....

This morning I could feel baby girl kicking quite a bit, so I looked down to watch and see if I could see anything, lo and behold I could see little tiny movements wherever she kicked! I love it! It is already amazing to be able to feel all her little movements but to see them is so amazing!

"20 Week" ultrasound

We went in for our "20 week" ultrasound and appointment today. We are actually 21 weeks so we were only a week late :) Baby girl was being very difficult for the ultrasound she was moving around so much the ultrasound tech was having a hard time getting a good shot of anything. As soon as he would find a good shot she would move before he could take it. We almost got a cute pic of what looked like her trying to suck her thumb, but she decided to turn her head right before he took the pic. Silly girl. In the end we still got some very cute pics.

 Her cute little feet :)
The ultrasound tech pointed out her toes and said "look her 2nd and 3rd toe are longer than her big toe, does that look like anyones toes?" To which Spencer replied by pointing down to my feet. :) At least I know of one thing she inherited from me :)

 Her  arm and hand

 Definitely a Girl :)

Part of her leg and foot

Profile pic,  kind of a funny one, we got a few pics of her face/profile but she was moving around so much it was hard to get a good one.

and of course this one is my Favorite. Throwing down the Peace sign!
(no one believed me that this was real, oh but it is :) )

For my actual Dr. appointment we did pretty much the same old, check my blood pressure answer any questions we had and so forth. The fun new thing for me was measuring my belly. She said I am measuring two weeks  bigger than  I am  supposed to  be but she says that is normal so she isn't going to change my due date or anything. She also told me that after my next appointment I am going to start seeing her every two weeks instead of every four weeks. Which I am very excited about. :)

Acrobat

I feel like I have a little acrobat inside of me! The past two days I have felt her movements so much more! I am loving it! one minute I feel a kick on my left side, next thing I know I am getting a little thump on the right. She is moving all over the place. They still don't feel like kicks, still like thumps or like one description I read like popcorn popping. Either way it has been so fun to feel all her little movements all over the place, now if only she would move off of my bladder :)

Half way there!

Today I hit my HALF WAY mark! 20 weeks! At first it seemed like my pregnancy was going sooo slow but now it seems to be flying by so quickly. Almost too quickly that it kind of scares me a little...

                          At 20 weeks
Baby...
  • weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now.
  • Is around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel
  • Is swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system.
  • Also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion.
Mommy...
  • My waist it measuring 36" around
  • Feeling so much better and have very few headaches!
  • I have become an insomniac again, waking up what feels like every hour, which leads to a very grumpy girl!
  • I have hit the point where I feel like I have to pee so much!
  • Baby girls movements are more noticeable! I  love it!

Baby Bump

We FINALLY got around to doing more Baby bump pics. I wanted to do them every four weeks at least, but life got so busy so here we are doing them TEN weeks later! Oh well I will be happy to have anything really. It will be fun to see even some of the progression!

Here is my (white) belly at 18 Weeks!

(I promise I am very excited to be pregnant, the first picture just shows one of my pregnancy symptoms...exhaustion!)

Saturday, April 30, 2011

I missed my post for 17 weeks and I don't want to get too far behind, so I better update now while I'm thinking of it! Time has flown by!! And a lot has seemed to have happened! So here are some of the updates of what has been going on!

First off, two very exciting things happened! On Tuesday we found out that our sweet little babe is a.....GIRL!
I am so stinkin excited!
The next big thing that happened was that I actually for the first time felt her move! But what it even more exciting than that, is Spencer felt her for the first time, the same time I did! It was such an exciting thing to feel my little one move!!!

Now here are some fun facts according to my phone apps as to what is going on...

Baby:
  • Is Six inches long (from crown to rump) and about eight ounces!
  • Arms and legs are finally in proportion, neurons are now connected between the brain and muscles, and cartilage throughout the body is turning to bone. All these upgrades combine to give your baby more control over limb movements.
  •  Baby is getting a cheesy varnish called vernix caseosa, a protective layer, basically to protect them from all that amniotic fluid

Mommy:
  • I am starting to show a lot more! On Easter Sunday my Family was commenting on how I was starting to 'kind of' show, then on thursday My mom was commenting on how much bigger I am getting even just from Sunday! So I'm starting to actually look pregnant!
  • I have been feeling tons better! Hardly any headaches, and the ones I do get don't last all day or make me sick. Thank goodness!
  • Like I said previously, I felt movements, finally, and have been able to distinguish them a little better lately. She seems to be more active at night though... (uh oh)
Well that is pretty much my updates so far! We have another appointment in about a month, as well as the full on ultrasound, where we get lots of pictures! :)

ITS A.....

GIRL!!!

And we couldn't be more thrilled!!!  In fact the whole family is SO excited! (even though most of them were so sure it was a boy). My family was calling me and bugging me all day long trying to get us to tell them, but we wanted to do a fun way to announce it to them! Come on silly family, its our first baby! We want to announce these things in fun ways! (texting is lame). Anyways we got some funny stories out of it...

First off here is the Proof!.

The top one he took so that we could have a full body shot, and the second one is the proof of gender!

Now for some fun story time....
Can I just say how much I LOVE our ultra sound tech! He is SO funny, and makes me laugh the entire time. Before we went in, I was nervous he wouldn't be able to see the gender. I kept saying Karma was going to bite me in the butt for pay back for my mom. Apparently when she went to find out what I was, I had my legs crossed and my hands tucked in, so there was absolutely NO WAY  I would let them see me. Luckily my little girl decided she would be nice to me :)

It took the Dr. no time at all to find the perfect shot showing the gender. The first shot he found he called the "toilet seat shot",  saying it was what it would look like if she was sitting on the toilet and we were looking up, (don't know why I would be in the toilet looking at her bum, but I'll go with it I guess). Another view he was went to he called the "lack thereof shot, meaning even though you couldn't see proof a girl's genitals, there was no view of the any boy genital, (hence the lack thereof).

The Dr. said she is DEFINITELY a girl, he kept on saying "YUP its a girl, no doubt about that." He even said that if he was wrong, and the baby ended up being a boy, he would pay for his college tuition. SO I guess at least we have college expenses paid for if he is wrong :)

************

Like I said my family kept bugging me all day to get me to give in and just tell them, here are some of those funny conversations...

Conversation 1 (between older sister and me)

Tiffany: BOY?

Me: I'm not telling anyone yet, I have a fun way I want to tell everyone
Tiffany: Just say yes or no. I won't tell a soul

Me: You'll just have to wait...
Tiffany: I'll take that as a yes!

Me: (smiling to myself) Take it however you want but I want confirm or deny it :)

Conversation 2 (between my Mom and me)

Mom: (after just telling her I was shopping) What color are you shopping for?
Me: haha gender neutral :)

Mom: oh just give me a hint!
Me: ok.... its a BABY!

Mom: Just tell me! Did the dr have a hard time finding the gender?
Me: Nope! He found it so fast!

Mom: Oh its a BOY! I knew it! It has a wee wee!
Me: I'm not saying!

*******

Oh I just LOVED messing with them and LOVED the fact that they think the KNOW the correct answer. It made the torture even more worthwhile!!

So when I finally did tell them this is how I did it for the older siblings

For my sisters who don't live near, I made this image on adobe and emailed it to them (I found the riddle online and thought it was way cute!) For the record the "similarity" between these candy bars was that they had No Nuts which equals GIRL :)

I also did a similar thing for Spencer's brother that lives nearby, but I actually put the candy in a bag, with the note tied to it, we put it on their porch and ran away :)

For my Mother, my little sister, and Spencer's Parents we read them a poem that I wrote and gave them a bag with pink and blue M&M's.
This is how the Poem went:

Boy or Girl that is the question,
We’ve asked everyone, ‘what is your impression’?
What do you think is the gender of our baby?
Do you think you guessed it right? Well maybe, just maybe.

Ten Tiny fingers and ten Tiny toes.
Boy or girl, nobody knows!
While truthfully we think either will be nice,
We wanted to know whether it would be snakes and snails, or sugar and spice?

So do you think the babe will be dressed in Pink?
Or what about blue, what do you think?
Will it be all about sports and bugs and dirt?
Or all about shoes, and bows, and a frilly skirt?

Do you give up would you like a clue?
Take these treats the pink and the blue,
Count how many of each to end your confusion,
Which one has more? Well there’s your conclusion!

At this point we gave them bags of pink and blue M&M's. but we didn't want to make it too easy! we decided to play a little trick on them, we put even amounts of blue and pink, just to confuse them a little. After we had our fun we read the rest of the poem.

Boy or girl that is the question!
Do you want to know? Well here is our confession!
While either one we would really enjoy
Coming this fall, won’t be a boy!

IT’S A GIRL!!!
It was so much fun, for me at least, but I think in the end the riddle and the poem made it worthwhile for them :)  and we are ALL excited for this little girl to make her entrance into the world!

the date is set!

The date for the gender ultrasound is set! I am way to impatient to wait til 20 weeks, so after much hinting and winking, Spencer finally gave me the A-Ok to set up the gender only ultrasound.

At my Doctor's office they do a 1st trimester Ultrasound, a 20 week ultrasound, and then they are doing a free 3D one at 28 weeks. They also told us that they have an optional gender only ultrasound, for  a fee,  if we did not want to wait til the 20 week ultrasound (bad idea to tell me that, I just looked over at Spencer with a grin, and I think he already knew from day one that we would be paying that fee).

Well Spencer was right when he thought I would be wanting to find out early, Because this coming Tuesday (April 26th), We will be finding out whether our sweet little one is a BOY or GIRL!

16 weeks

Today marks the day of 16 Weeks!!! As Spencer pointed out four more weeks and we are half way there! Crazy! It has gone so fast, and yet so slow!

Here is what it happening at 16 weeks:

Baby:
Your baby now weighs in at a whopping three to five ounces, and he's four to five inches in length. The bones that are now in place in his ears means he can probably hear your voice as you talk to your partner and pals and sing in the car. While he’s getting used to your voice, the tiny muscles in his body, especially the ones in his back, are gaining strength, so he can straighten out a little more. And thanks to his developing facial muscles, your baby is capable of making a few expressive frowns and squints, even at this early stage. (Don’t worry, those frowns have nothing to do with the sound of your voice!) And his eyes are finally working, making small side-to-side movements and perceiving light (although the eyelids are still sealed). Peekaboo!

Mommy:
  • I have had  a few people commenting lately that it looks like I am starting to show.. although my waist doesn't seem to get any bigger when i measure it.
  • My headaches have not gone away, but luckily the all day sickness and throwing up that comes with it has not shown its face in awhile. Thank goodness!
  • I haven't had weird cravings yet. I just still love steak!
  • I don't know if I have gained any weight, since we don't have a scale at home, I guess I will see at the Doctors next week

    2nd Doctors appointment

Today was my second Doctors appointment. It was as exciting as the first, especially since it took forever to get into the appointment, which in turn only lasted about 15 minutes! The one exciting thing though was that we finally got to hear that little heart beat of yours!! I was so happy to finally hear that sound! It was the most amazing sound in the world! It has been so fun to see you and hear your heart, now I can't wait to hold you in my arms!

      11 Weeks!?

Dear Baby, today Daddy and I got to see you for the first time! We went in for our first ultrasound and got to take a little sneak peak of you! You were quite the little mover! you were kicking your legs and waving your arms all over the place. It was so fun to watch you! I wish I could have watched you all day! It was mesmerizing! The Doctor measured you to see if we were as far along as we thought and guess what!? You were measuring bigger than expected so the Doctor moved the due date up, your new Estimated Due date is October 1st! One week sooner than we thought, So we are 11 weeks along instead of 10! I'm ok with that, the sooner I get to kiss your sweet face the better!

      At 11 weeks:

      Baby:
      •  You are about 2 inches long
      •  You weigh about an third of an ounce
      • Your fingernail and toenail beds are forming
      •  your torso is straightening
      •  Your are quite the little acrobat, doing stretches, kicks, somersaults and rolls!
       Mommy:
      • Feeling a little more energetic this week
      • I have been having horrible headaches that make me so sick
      • I haven't had any morning sickness, thank goodness (except for when I get those darn headaches)
      • I have gained quite the appetite, I feel like I could eat every ten minutes!
      • I have become an insomniac! I used to be able to sleep until ten or eleven, now I can't sleep past 7:30 or 8, and then on top of that I wake up at random hours throughout the night!

This is YOU at 11 weeks!!

      8 weeks

Dear Baby, so far we are 8 weeks along! I'm not going to lie, it feels like it is going so slow!

I went for my first Doctors appointment on Wednesday, I was very nervous for some reason. But everything went fine. I had to have 5 viles of blood drawn! The doctor tried to find your heart beat but it was nowhere to be found. It made me a little sad and kind of scared me even though before hand she had told me we might not be able to hear anything since it was so early. Hopefully next time we get to hear it!

Here is what is happening so far...

      Baby:
      •  By now your head is proportionally larger than the rest of your body
      • your ears and eyelids are starting to develope
      • Your fingers and toes are developing from the arm and leg buds, which now have distinguished wrists and elbows that can flex
      • your heart beat is around 150 beats per minute

      Mommy:
      • I have had very little morning sickness, unless I get the dreaded migraines, then it all goes down hill from there. I will be sick for days with migraines and throwing up. I can't eat anything! I need to find a way to get rid of those stupid migraines!
      •  So far I haven't had too many weird cravings. Lately the only things that sound good to me have been applesauce, steak, chips and salsa, and orange juice.
      • I have been so Exhausted lately! No matter how much sleep I get I still feel extremely tired. I feel as if I could sleep all day! Unfortunately that's not an option since I have to work and go to school!

Your Grandma (my mom) and I decided that it would be fun to take progressive "Baby Bump" pics to see how much my belly grows.

Here are the pics at 8 weeks...

      Family Announcement

Today was Daddy's Birthday and we decided it would be a fun time to tell our families the news about YOU!
We wanted to be creative so we invited everyone over for cake and ice cream. Before they got there I made a shirt that said "Happy Birthday Daddy" on it and put it on for the night.

When everyone started to arrive we just waited it out to see how long it would take and to see how they would react when they saw the shirt on their own time. The first one to notice was my little sister, your Aunt Savannah. She glanced at the shirt and said "oh that's cute" but then she did a double take to see if she read it correctly. When she reread it she started freaking out and told me to stand up so she could see the whole shirt, after reading it again, for probably the third time she gave me a big hug and was saying how she excited she was.

Of course after Savannah started making a commotion everyone else was trying to figure out what was going on, so I turned around to let everyone else see the shirt. Everyone was so excited to hear the news! There were some family members that could not make it to the party so we took a picture of me in the shirt and sent a picture message to everyone else.

Both our families are so excited to have a new little one on the way and they can't wait to meet you just like your Daddy and Mommy!

      Suprise for Daddy

      Dear baby,

I was going to wait to tell Daddy the GREAT news about you, but I decided his birthday was just too far away. So  I decided that since today was the 24th (our four months anniversary of being married) it would be a perfect time to tell him. So I made a little gift box and put the pregnancy tests in there. I made a card that told Daddy how much I have loved the past four months with just the two of us, and then put another note inside the box that said that in nine months baby will make three!.... Then I told Daddy I had a special surprise for him, and gave him the box. He was really confused and tried shaking the box and squeezing it to see what it could be. BUT when he opened it and read the note he was so excited he was jumping up and down and pulled me into a big hug, He even teared up a bit (don't tell him I told you that).

Both Daddy and I are so excited to know we have a sweet little baby on the way, and are very impatient to see you sweet little face!

      Dear Baby,

Today was a very exciting day for me! Today was the day that I found I was pregnant with YOU! Daddy had an inkling that I might be, but I didn't want to believe him. I didn't want to get my hopes up. But tonight I decided to take a pregnancy test just to see if he was right. I was so nervous to look at the test and when I finally did, I had to keep looking  at it to make sure I read it right. But when I saw that is was positive I was grinning from ear to ear!  I was so excited, but it was so hard to believe, so I took another test, (just in case) and it said the same thing, PREGNANT!

I was going to tell Daddy the great news, but I decided to wait so that I could surprise him. His birthday was coming up soon so I thought I might just wait to tell him then!

Sweet Baby, I am so excited to know I am pregnant with you and can't wait to meet you!!
