I missed my post for 17 weeks and I don't want to get too far behind, so I better update now while I'm thinking of it! Time has flown by!! And a lot has seemed to have happened! So here are some of the updates of what has been going on!

First off, two very exciting things happened! On Tuesday we found out that our sweet little babe is a.....GIRL!
I am so stinkin excited!
The next big thing that happened was that I actually for the first time felt her move! But what it even more exciting than that, is Spencer felt her for the first time, the same time I did! It was such an exciting thing to feel my little one move!!!

Now here are some fun facts according to my phone apps as to what is going on...

Baby:
  • Is Six inches long (from crown to rump) and about eight ounces!
  • Arms and legs are finally in proportion, neurons are now connected between the brain and muscles, and cartilage throughout the body is turning to bone. All these upgrades combine to give your baby more control over limb movements.
  •  Baby is getting a cheesy varnish called vernix caseosa, a protective layer, basically to protect them from all that amniotic fluid

Mommy:
  • I am starting to show a lot more! On Easter Sunday my Family was commenting on how I was starting to 'kind of' show, then on thursday My mom was commenting on how much bigger I am getting even just from Sunday! So I'm starting to actually look pregnant!
  • I have been feeling tons better! Hardly any headaches, and the ones I do get don't last all day or make me sick. Thank goodness!
  • Like I said previously, I felt movements, finally, and have been able to distinguish them a little better lately. She seems to be more active at night though... (uh oh)
Well that is pretty much my updates so far! We have another appointment in about a month, as well as the full on ultrasound, where we get lots of pictures! :)

ITS A.....

GIRL!!!

And we couldn't be more thrilled!!!  In fact the whole family is SO excited! (even though most of them were so sure it was a boy). My family was calling me and bugging me all day long trying to get us to tell them, but we wanted to do a fun way to announce it to them! Come on silly family, its our first baby! We want to announce these things in fun ways! (texting is lame). Anyways we got some funny stories out of it...

First off here is the Proof!.

The top one he took so that we could have a full body shot, and the second one is the proof of gender!

Now for some fun story time....
Can I just say how much I LOVE our ultra sound tech! He is SO funny, and makes me laugh the entire time. Before we went in, I was nervous he wouldn't be able to see the gender. I kept saying Karma was going to bite me in the butt for pay back for my mom. Apparently when she went to find out what I was, I had my legs crossed and my hands tucked in, so there was absolutely NO WAY  I would let them see me. Luckily my little girl decided she would be nice to me :)

It took the Dr. no time at all to find the perfect shot showing the gender. The first shot he found he called the "toilet seat shot",  saying it was what it would look like if she was sitting on the toilet and we were looking up, (don't know why I would be in the toilet looking at her bum, but I'll go with it I guess). Another view he was went to he called the "lack thereof shot, meaning even though you couldn't see proof a girl's genitals, there was no view of the any boy genital, (hence the lack thereof).

The Dr. said she is DEFINITELY a girl, he kept on saying "YUP its a girl, no doubt about that." He even said that if he was wrong, and the baby ended up being a boy, he would pay for his college tuition. SO I guess at least we have college expenses paid for if he is wrong :)

************

Like I said my family kept bugging me all day to get me to give in and just tell them, here are some of those funny conversations...

Conversation 1 (between older sister and me)

Tiffany: BOY?

Me: I'm not telling anyone yet, I have a fun way I want to tell everyone
Tiffany: Just say yes or no. I won't tell a soul

Me: You'll just have to wait...
Tiffany: I'll take that as a yes!

Me: (smiling to myself) Take it however you want but I want confirm or deny it :)

Conversation 2 (between my Mom and me)

Mom: (after just telling her I was shopping) What color are you shopping for?
Me: haha gender neutral :)

Mom: oh just give me a hint!
Me: ok.... its a BABY!

Mom: Just tell me! Did the dr have a hard time finding the gender?
Me: Nope! He found it so fast!

Mom: Oh its a BOY! I knew it! It has a wee wee!
Me: I'm not saying!

*******

Oh I just LOVED messing with them and LOVED the fact that they think the KNOW the correct answer. It made the torture even more worthwhile!!

So when I finally did tell them this is how I did it for the older siblings

For my sisters who don't live near, I made this image on adobe and emailed it to them (I found the riddle online and thought it was way cute!) For the record the "similarity" between these candy bars was that they had No Nuts which equals GIRL :)

I also did a similar thing for Spencer's brother that lives nearby, but I actually put the candy in a bag, with the note tied to it, we put it on their porch and ran away :)

For my Mother, my little sister, and Spencer's Parents we read them a poem that I wrote and gave them a bag with pink and blue M&M's.
This is how the Poem went:

Boy or Girl that is the question,
We’ve asked everyone, ‘what is your impression’?
What do you think is the gender of our baby?
Do you think you guessed it right? Well maybe, just maybe.

Ten Tiny fingers and ten Tiny toes.
Boy or girl, nobody knows!
While truthfully we think either will be nice,
We wanted to know whether it would be snakes and snails, or sugar and spice?

So do you think the babe will be dressed in Pink?
Or what about blue, what do you think?
Will it be all about sports and bugs and dirt?
Or all about shoes, and bows, and a frilly skirt?

Do you give up would you like a clue?
Take these treats the pink and the blue,
Count how many of each to end your confusion,
Which one has more? Well there’s your conclusion!

At this point we gave them bags of pink and blue M&M's. but we didn't want to make it too easy! we decided to play a little trick on them, we put even amounts of blue and pink, just to confuse them a little. After we had our fun we read the rest of the poem.

Boy or girl that is the question!
Do you want to know? Well here is our confession!
While either one we would really enjoy
Coming this fall, won’t be a boy!

IT’S A GIRL!!!
It was so much fun, for me at least, but I think in the end the riddle and the poem made it worthwhile for them :)  and we are ALL excited for this little girl to make her entrance into the world!

the date is set!

The date for the gender ultrasound is set! I am way to impatient to wait til 20 weeks, so after much hinting and winking, Spencer finally gave me the A-Ok to set up the gender only ultrasound.

At my Doctor's office they do a 1st trimester Ultrasound, a 20 week ultrasound, and then they are doing a free 3D one at 28 weeks. They also told us that they have an optional gender only ultrasound, for  a fee,  if we did not want to wait til the 20 week ultrasound (bad idea to tell me that, I just looked over at Spencer with a grin, and I think he already knew from day one that we would be paying that fee).

Well Spencer was right when he thought I would be wanting to find out early, Because this coming Tuesday (April 26th), We will be finding out whether our sweet little one is a BOY or GIRL!

16 weeks

Today marks the day of 16 Weeks!!! As Spencer pointed out four more weeks and we are half way there! Crazy! It has gone so fast, and yet so slow!

Here is what it happening at 16 weeks:

Baby:
Your baby now weighs in at a whopping three to five ounces, and he's four to five inches in length. The bones that are now in place in his ears means he can probably hear your voice as you talk to your partner and pals and sing in the car. While he’s getting used to your voice, the tiny muscles in his body, especially the ones in his back, are gaining strength, so he can straighten out a little more. And thanks to his developing facial muscles, your baby is capable of making a few expressive frowns and squints, even at this early stage. (Don’t worry, those frowns have nothing to do with the sound of your voice!) And his eyes are finally working, making small side-to-side movements and perceiving light (although the eyelids are still sealed). Peekaboo!

Mommy:
  • I have had  a few people commenting lately that it looks like I am starting to show.. although my waist doesn't seem to get any bigger when i measure it.
  • My headaches have not gone away, but luckily the all day sickness and throwing up that comes with it has not shown its face in awhile. Thank goodness!
  • I haven't had weird cravings yet. I just still love steak!
  • I don't know if I have gained any weight, since we don't have a scale at home, I guess I will see at the Doctors next week
